Ronnie Gleason, Assistant Director of Bands

Ronnie GleasonRonnie Gleason is in his thirteenth year of teaching instrumental music, and the 2006-2007 was his first at Lafayette High School. Mr. Gleason received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1993. He was the Director of Bands at Rayne High School, 1994-1995; Delcambre High School, 1995-1996; and Carencro High School, 1996-2002. Most recently he was the Assistant Director of Bands and Marching Band Director at Saint Thomas More Catholic High School, 2002-2006. In 2003 his marching band became the first band from Louisiana to compete in the Bands of America Grand National Championship. Over his teaching career Mr. Gleason’s bands have consistently received superior ratings in marching, concert and jazz festivals at local, state and national events.

Mr. Gleason has performed with many ensembles over the years including the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, Acadian Wind Symphony, Louisiana Saxophone Quartet and the Skyliner’s Big Band. His professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference, Louisiana Music Educators Association, Southwest Louisiana Band Directors Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
